Investigation Underway After Woman and Two Children Found Dead in Fort Smith, Arkansas Home
On the morning of December 3, 2025, deputies with the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check at a home on South 1st Avenue in Bonanza, Arkansas. Upon entering the residence, authorities discovered the bodies of 40-year-old Charity Powell Beallis and her 6-year-old twin children. All three victims had been shot.
The discovery was made after two workers at the home assisted law enforcement in gaining access to the property. The sheriff’s office confirmed the deaths and stated that the bodies were sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsies as investigators continue to search for answers.
Charity’s adult son, John Beallis, has expressed his grief and confusion over the tragic loss, noting that his family has yet to receive any details from law enforcement about what led to the deaths. He described his mother as someone he had loved and cared for since she had him at the age of 16, and that it is devastating for him to come to terms with the circumstances surrounding her death and the death of his younger siblings.

Further information has also surfaced concerning the death of Shawna Beallis, Dr. Beallis’s previous wife, who passed away in 2012. Shawna’s death was initially ruled a suicide, but there are ongoing questions about the circumstances surrounding her death, with some suggesting that it may not have been suicide after all.
